board requirements, tactics, key players, youth prospects and potential
transfers in FM21.
Here is a brief analysis of the Hoffenheim squad, their club structure, relationship any potential managers will have with the board, expectations and possible tactics any FM21 manager can use.
About the club
Hoffenheim are a professional football club that ply their trade in the Bundesliga. Originally founded in 1899 as a gymnastic club, Hoffenheim evolved into more of a football club in 1945.
Board Requirements
The club had a decent showing in the 2019-2020 season and finished 6th in the league table. They have qualified for the Europa League as a result. The minimum board requirements once you take over will be;
1. Make the top 6 of the Bundesliga (Automatic Qualification into the Europa League)
2. Make the QF of the DFB Pokal.
3. Reach the 2nd knockout stages of the Europa League.
Additionally, the board requires you to play high-tempo attacking football, have a preference for signing younger players based in Germany, use the club’s youth system to develop young players and not sign players who are above 30.
Hoffenheim have good training facilities and a good youth system. However, you will need to work on improving these after you stabilize your position at the club.

Squad, Formation and Tactical Style
Hoffenheim are a team that generally like to attack. They like playing a fast tempo game, so a vertical tiki-taka is the best-suited system.
A 4-4-2 is probably the best-suited formation to the available squad of players. This enables the players to play to their strengths.
A rough example of what your line-up would look like in a 4-4-2 formation is as follows;
Oliver Baumann as a sweeper keeper.
Stefan Posch and Kevin Vogt as the 2 centre backs, Vogt as a Ball playing defender.
Pavel Kaderabek & Ryan Sessegnon as the 2 wing-backs. Increased crossing instructions are recommended.
Sebastien Rudy, Dennis Geiger, Robert Skov & Mijat Gacinovic as the 4 midfielders. Rudy as the deep playmaker on defence duty, Geiger as a Mezzala, Skov and Gacinovic as the inverted wingers.
Munas Dabbur & Andrej Kramaric as the 2 forwards. The former as a deep-lying forward and the latter as an Advanced forward.
Alternatively, you can go with a 4-3-3 by pushing your wide midfielders to wingers.

Key Players
1. Sebastien Rudy
Rudy who is currently on loan from Schalke is an experienced midfielder who exudes quality. His passing and composure from midfield will massively help any manager taking over.
2. Andrej Kramaric
Kramaric is the main man for Hoffenheim and is the biggest source for goals. Keeping him fit and going will be crucial in having a good season.
3. Pavel Kaderabek
The experienced Czech fullback is a bundle of pace and extremely hard to handle on the flanks. His delivery and industry from the right flank will be evident and managers will quickly start to rely on him to churn out results.

3. Defense is a big concern and you will often have to hope on outscoring opponents to secure favourable results.
