How to choose an FM26 club using its budget
Start with the squad you inherit. A club with a smaller transfer budget may already have the players you need. Open the linked club profile, look at the age balance and depth, and decide which positions actually need investment. This helps turn a long list of clubs into a realistic shortlist for your next save.
Keep transfer fees and wages separate. A weekly allowance of £500,000 does not mean you have £500,000 available for new contracts. Existing commitments use part of it. Check your finance screen for the remaining room, then allow for bonuses, agent fees and any board limits. The annual toggle here is simply weekly allowance multiplied by 52.
Choose the kind of recruitment you enjoy. Use the £0 and under-£1m filters for a tighter starting transfer budget, or compare clubs with £10m or more if you want a larger opening fee budget. None of those bands predicts save difficulty: expectations, squad quality and the league all matter too.
Coverage and source notes
This guide preserves the transfer and weekly wage figures from the supplied FM26 club list. It contains 1,019 entries across 63 leagues. Club and competition links are matched separately to the FM Blog Database; the budgets are not live financial data and are not replaced by a club's bank balance.
One source entry needs checking
Sunderland appears in both the Premier League and Championship in the original list. The Championship row is marked and cannot be selected for comparison. Its two budget figures are preserved without assigning them to another club. League summary calculations omit that marked entry.
Five clubs do not yet have a verified Database link
Domžale, Mirassol FC, La Equidad, Comerciantes and Valour remain in their original league tables with their original budget figures. Their names are left unlinked until the correct public Database identity is confirmed.
FM26 transfer budget questions
Which club has the biggest transfer budget in this list?
Brighton has the largest listed transfer budget at £100,000,000. This answer refers to the clubs and figures in this guide; the budget in your save may differ with your setup.
Are the wage budgets weekly or yearly?
The default figure is the total weekly wage allowance in pounds sterling. Select Annual estimate to see the weekly figure multiplied by 52. It is an allowance, not a report of actual payroll spending.
Does a wage budget show how much I can offer new players?
No. The listed wage budget is the total allowance. Existing player and staff commitments may already use much of it. Check the available wage space in your save before offering contracts.
Why does my FM26 transfer budget look different?
Budgets can vary with your game database, start setup, board expectations and changes already made in the save. These tables are a reference list, so use the finance screen in your own game for the final decision.
What does a £0 transfer budget mean?
It means the source lists no opening budget for transfer fees. It does not mean the club has no money, no wage allowance or no possible way to recruit. Sales, loans and free transfers may still be options, subject to your board and contract costs.
Can I compare teams from different leagues?
Yes. Select All clubs, search or filter the list, and tick two different clubs. Your selections stay available as you change filters. The comparison keeps transfer budgets and wage allowances separate.
What do the budget colours mean?
Grey means £0; gold means above £0 but under £1m; teal means £1m to under £10m; blue means £10m to under £50m; purple means £50m or more. These colours describe transfer budgets, not player ratings or club quality.
How many leagues does the guide cover?
There are 63 league tables and 1,019 source entries. One Championship entry duplicates Sunderland from the Premier League and is marked for checking. Five club names remain unlinked because their Database identity is not confirmed.
Can I sort the budgets from smallest to largest?
Yes. Select the Transfer budget or Wage budget column heading to change direction. The Club heading sorts alphabetically. Use All clubs to sort across every league, or By league to keep each competition separate.
