Navigating FM24 Wonderkids: Who's Gone and Who's Still Available

It’s a rite of passage every year: the new FM24 comes out, and players eagerly search for the best FM24 wonderkids and bargains in the game; then the data update comes along and ruins it. Doubtless, some of our favourite talents have been picked up by bigger clubs in real life, meaning you have to start your new save scouting journey all over again. This article mourns the loss of some of our favourite wonderkids who have moved in real life and are no longer available; and celebrates a few who can still be grabbed for pennies.

GONE - Marcos Leonardo

One of the highest-potential strikers in the game, Marcos Leonardo, could be grabbed for around £13m. He was almost guaranteed 20+ goals a season and was equally potent as an advanced forward or an inside forward on the left wing. Happily for him, Benfica came calling in real life, and he already has 4 goals in 7 league appearances for the Lisbon giants. Sadly, this means one of our go-to goal machines is no longer available on a new FM save.

STILL AVAILABLE - Roony Bardghji

Among the FM24 wonderkids still up for grabs is Roony Bardghji. Luckily, one of our other go-to attackers is still available despite significant interest in real life. 17-year-old Bardghji attracted attention from some of the biggest clubs in the world over the January transfer window but chose to remain with København - for now. Good news for København, who keep one of the brightest young talents in Europe. Good news for Roony, who gets to continue his development at a club who value him and where he feels comfortable. And good news for FM fans, who can still poach him for around £10m.

GONE - Valentin Barco

One of the most obvious moves of the season, Barco has been attracting active interest from a host of Premier League clubs for over a year now, and FM players all knew why. Sign him, and that’s your left-back role sorted for a generation. In reality, it was Brighton who took the plunge and secured a future star on a long-term deal. For us, it means our favourite left back - and his staggeringly undervalued £8.5m release clause - are out of reach.

STILL AVAILABLE - Valentin Gomez

So you like Argentinian left-sided defender wonderkids called Valentin? Well, I’ve got good news, there’s another one! That’s pretty much where the resemblance ends: where Barco is a mercurial offensive weapon who flies up and down the left flank with great skill and flair; Gomez is a 6ft centre back with imperious heading ability and the mental attributes to dominate. He’ll be the heart of your defence, and a future captain to boot. What’s even sweeter is his asking price has actually gone down since the update; and he can now be grabbed for as little as £2.9m.

GONE - Adam Wharton

As deep-lying playmakers go, Adam Wharton had the potential to go far in FM24. His reading of the game doesn’t just serve as the basis of excellent playmaking; he was always one step ahead in defence as well. His mental attributes ensured that prying him away from Blackburn Rovers - while pricey - was always worth the outlay. Crystal Palace are obviously FM fans, as they made the move in January, taking him out of our first season transfer plans after the winter update.

STILL AVAILABLE - Kacper Tobiasz

Despite a very solid season with Legia Warsawa - 8 clean sheets in 20 Ekstraklasa appearances - Kacper Tobiasz has so far escaped the attentions of Europe’s bigger clubs. Which is great news for FM players, as a generational goalkeeping talent is available for around £4m. His kicking, passing and teamwork speak to a keeper with exceptional distribution, perfect for quick transitions and possession-based tactics. His traditional goalkeeping attributes are also very good for a player of his age, with room to grow after exposure to a higher level of football. Signing Tobiasz more or less solves all of your goalkeeping woes for the future, so make the most of his real-world loyalty to Legia.
