Sports Interactive has confirmed a November launch window for FM27, with gameplay reveals starting in September and changes inspired by community feedback.
Sports Interactive has confirmed that Football Manager 27 will launch in November, with the exact release date and supported platforms to be announced later.
The confirmation arrived through a new Community Team Talk presented by Football Manager Community Manager Chris Groves. It also provided the first outline of SI's plans for revealing FM27, including feature deep dives, gameplay footage and more frequent communication with players.
The first substantial FM27 reveals will begin in September.
Football Manager 27 Will Be Released in November
Every version of FM27 is currently scheduled to launch during November. However, Sports Interactive has not yet confirmed the precise date or which platforms will receive the game.
The price also remains unannounced, while pre-orders will not open immediately. SI says it wants to reveal more about the additions and improvements in FM27 before asking players to purchase the game.
This means several major launch details are still pending:
- The exact FM27 release date
- Supported platforms
- Pricing for each version
- Pre-order availability
- Any subscription requirements
- A possible Advanced Access period
Sports Interactive has not confirmed whether Steam players will receive the usual Advanced Access or pre-launch playing period. Details of any early access window will be announced separately.
FM27 Feature Deep Dives Begin in September
The FM27 reveal campaign will properly begin in September, when Sports Interactive plans to release a series of feature deep dives and first looks at gameplay.
These updates will cover the core areas of FM27 through gameplay footage, written blog posts and insights from members of the development team.
Discussing the direction of the new game, Chris Groves said:
"We're evolving the current design whilst restoring ideas and behaviours you value and that worked well in previous editions."
That is likely to be the most significant statement in this update.
FM26 introduced a substantially redesigned interface and several major structural changes. Although some ideas showed promise, parts of the community felt that useful behaviours and familiar systems from earlier games had been lost in the transition.
SI's wording suggests FM27 will not abandon the current design completely. Instead, the studio intends to develop it while bringing back elements that players believed worked better in previous editions.
No individual returning feature has been named yet, so it would be premature to claim that any particular screen, menu or system is coming back. The September deep dives should provide the first concrete examples.
Community Feedback Is Shaping FM27
Sports Interactive says community feedback has been central to the work being carried out on FM27.
The studio also wants to communicate more frequently and provide greater clarity about both the game and its development. Future announcements will be accompanied by FAQs similar to the one published with this update.
This is a sensible change in approach. Rather than opening pre-orders based on a short announcement, SI plans to show players more of FM27 before sales begin.
The coming deep dives will determine how meaningful that change really is. Players will want to see specific improvements, working gameplay and clear explanations of which older behaviours have been restored.
Official Football Manager Discord Launches in September
An official Football Manager Discord server will also launch in September alongside one of the upcoming FM27 deep dives.
The server will provide another direct channel between the community and Sports Interactive before and after the release of FM27.
Until then, players can continue discussing the series through the SI Forums, Football Manager's social channels and the community-run Football Manager subreddit.
