8 Clubs Moving into Brand New Stadiums to Manage in FM22

Here's our list of eight clubs, and four honourable mentions, that you should consider managing in FM22 due to them all moving into brand new stadiums.

Moving into a brand new stadium often creates great emulation around a club. Fans are buzzing, the players can’t wait to play on it, and the staff members, including managers, are excited to use the new facilities. Over the last years, many stadiums have sprung around the world, taking advantage of the latest technologies to offer fans and club members alike the best possible experience and immersion. So if you’re looking for your next FM22 challenge, how about trying a club which is set to move into a brand new home in the near future?

1. Everton (English Premier League)

Everton

Leaving good, old Goodison Park behind, Everton FC is set to move to the brand new 52,888-seat Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium at the start of the 2024-25 Premier League season. The estimated costs for the new stadium stand at around £500 million, but fans hope that the new home will ignite a new era at the club which has been underperforming for decades. Still, Everton is a founding member of the Football League and has competed in the top division for a record 118 seasons since the Football League's creation, having missed only four top-flight seasons and winning nine league titles, five FA Cups, and one European Cup Winners' Cup. Everton is also the second-longest continuous serving club in the English top-flight and currently ranks third in an all-time points rankings.

2. Valencia (Spanish La Liga)

Valencia

Valencia is due to move into the 55,000 capacity Nou Mestalla on 1.7.2025. This means you will have plenty of time (4 seasons) to build a team capable of challenging the likes of Barcelona, Real, and Atletico Madrid and winning the Spanish top-flight at the end of the 2025-2026 season, which will be the first in the new stadium. The last time Valencia has achieved this was in the 2003–04 season.

3. Sydney FC (Australian A-League)

Sydney

Moving away from Europe, we travel to Sydney, Australia, where the new Sydney Football Stadium is currently under construction. It is scheduled to open in August 2022 as a replacement for the old Sydney Football Stadium. The 45,500-seater will be home to the A-League side Sydney FC, the most successful football club in Australian history. The former team of Italian legend Alessandro Del Piero finished only second in the league last season, so bringing the title back to Sidney, and to the new stadium, will be paramount in the 2021–22 season.

4. Atlético Mineiro (Brazlian Série A)

Atletico Mineiro

Atlético is currently building a new stadium, the Arena MRV, which will have a capacity of 46,000 spectators. In-game, the inauguration is scheduled for October 2022. Based in the city of Belo Horizonte, the capital city of the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, Atlético Mineiro competes in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, the first level of Brazilian football, as well as in the Campeonato Mineiro, both of which won by the club in the 2021 season. Building on this strong foundation, and a star-studded team with the likes of Hulk or Diego Costa, you should aim to win the Copa Libertadores (won by Atlético in 2013) once your new stadium will be complete.

5. Nashville SC (MLS)

Nashville

Nashville Soccer Club is a Major League Soccer team based in Nashville, Tennessee. The club plays its home matches at the Nissan Stadium, with the intention to move to a 30,000-seat stadium at the Nashville Fairgrounds in January 2022. Having played only two seasons in the MLS, Nashville managed to reach the playoff quarterfinals on both occasions. Surpassing this stage and reaching the final of the MLS and winning the MLS Cup will be your objective for this challenge.

6. AEK Athens (Greek Super League)

AEK

Back in Europe, moving into the aptly named Agia Sophia Stadium (capacity of 33,000) in the summer of 2022, the club founded in 1924 by Greek refugees from Constantinople is one of the three most successful teams in Greek football (including Olympiacos and Panathinaikos), winning 30 national titles and the only one to have won all the competitions organized by the Hellenic Football Federation (12 Championships, 15 Greek Cups, 1 League Cup and 2 Super Cups). In your first season you will be playing in the Athens Olympic Stadium, so look to build up your strengths for the 2022-2023, at the start of which you will move in your new home. Your objective is to win the league title (last won by AEK in 2017–18) at the end of your second season.

7. Rapid București (Romanian Liga 1)

Rapid

Founded in 1923, bankrupted in 2016, and refounded in 2017 in the fourth league, Rapid has just returned in the Liga 1 at the start of this season after 5 long years in the lower leagues of Romanian football. In the second half of the 2021-2022 season, the club is also set to move to the new Rapid Arena, a brand new football-only stadium with a capacity of 14,050. As a newly promoted team, it will be hard to challenge for the title in your first year, but try to reach the play-offs and maybe cause an upset in the Romanian Cup, a club speciality with 13 cup wins. Your goal for this challenge is to win the Romanian league in the 2022-2023 season, which will mark the club’s centenary.

8. Aberdeen (Scottish Premiership)

Abeerden

A new stadium in Aberdeen, the Kingsford Stadium, will become the new home of Aberdeen FC starting with June 2023. The club competes in the Scottish Premiership and has never been relegated from the top division of the Scottish football league system since they were promoted in 1905. Aberdeen have won four Scottish league titles, seven Scottish Cups and six Scottish League Cups. They are also the only Scottish team to have won two European trophies, having won the European Cup Winners' Cup and the European Super Cup in 1983. Challenging the likes of Celtic and Rangers for the Premiership top spot will be a tough challenge in your first season, but luckily enough you have 2 seasons to build up your team and make the first season at the new Kingsford Stadium a truly memorable one by winning the title, which they last one way back in 1985.
