Here's our list of best free agents, or free transfers, that you should
sign for your club on Football Manager 2022.
In here, we will break down the finest free agents that you might wish to pick
up on FM22. While the other clubs are in the middle of squabbling over fees, which
stars could you be picking up for a pretty penny?
Which freebies could help to turn your team around starting today?
He might be a fairly vintage 39-year-old now, but Willy Caballero is a top-quality goalkeeper for clubs looking to find their place in the top-flight.
He would also be a signing for anyone looking to solidify their defence in a
big South American or Asian club.
Caballero offers a wealth of experience and could be someone who you could rely upon to really offer solidity to your backline. Given his age and his experience, you might find him surprisingly easy to negotiate with if you move early.
The powerful big Brazilian would be a fine addition for just about any club
in Europe’s top five leagues. He would be an absolute coup for anyone
outside of that – if you are managing in a league with a strong
Portuguese-speaking presence, or any of the big clubs in South America, then
Sidnei would be a no-brainer add-on to your team.
He’s got experience with teams like Real Betis, and at 31 offers a huge amount of experience. Definitely, someone to think about asking details of.
Though Reid might be in his early 30s now, just about any club in the
English Championship or similar could find him a good addition. Reid was a
stalwart for West Ham United and has a wealth of international experience
behind him. He would make a smart pick-up for most clubs, so we highly
recommend adding him to your list of signings if you are based in the UK and
are either at a higher Championship club and/or are competing in Scotland
with Celtic or Rangers-sized clubs.
If experience is your aim, then a man with 105 caps for Russia might be a
good idea. At 37, you might not get much out of Zhirkov – but for pure
experience and know-how, he could be a great addition. If you end up
managing in Eastern Europe or you are at a team in a league that might not
be quite as physically demanding as others, he could be a wise player to
speak to.
Veterans are always good to have around the place, and he offers ample veteran expertise.
If you fancy picking up a solid right-back with good overall ability, then
look into Francisco Javier Guerrero Martin, or simply Francis. The right-back has built up a pretty strong cache of
performances in Spain, and could be a solid fill-in for most teams. Though
he might take some coaching to work out his rough edges, any lower-to-mid La
Liga or ‘big five’ side could find a diamond of a player waiting for them
here.
However, you will need to move fast as he will not be shy on offers.
At 32 he might not be around much longer, but ‘Lubo’ Fejsa is a fine
addition to any midfield. He is a grafter, a fine presence in midfield for
his professionalism, and a reliable performer. He has been around at some
big clubs, and in his career, he has more often than not played for winners.
That shows in his excellent mental stats, and his reliability when it comes
to the physical side of the game.
Robust, strong, and reliable; the ideal DM if your transfer budget is limited.
At 29, fans of football who seen Jack Wilshere blow onto the scene will be
flabbergasted to see him so down on his luck. A good player even today,
injuries have ravaged a fine talent of much of his previous zip and zest. If
you can get him to talk to you (clubs in the top two tiers in England, teams
competing in Europe, and teams in leagues like the MLS should have a good
shot) then you could land a premium quality playmaker in-need of a chance.
Though the Scot has failed to live up to the big expectations bestowed on
him as a youngster in Scotland, MacLeod would be a fine pick-up for any
clubs competing for honours in Scotland and/or trying to get promoted in the
English second tier. He’s a good player with a solid engine, though you
might not want to get too attached as a series of injury issues (like
Wilshere above) have made him somewhat of a risk.
If you can fix his injury woes, though, you have a player on your hands.
On the market for a quality winger? Then you should absolutely look to
veteran winger Perotti. Though he might be 33 years of age, he is a player
who has kept themselves in good condition physically and should be more than
capable of playing at this level.
He offers a fine level of quality on and off the pitch and would be a great addition for any team in a top-five league or competing for honours in South America/smaller European leagues.
At 36 he might only give you a year, but what a year it could be. Fernando
Llorente is a well-regarded striker who has been a part of some major
winning teams in his career, including at the likes of Juventus. The big
Spaniard could offer you everything you need to help complete a team; goals
off the bench, the ability to win headers, and huge experience late on in
games.
If you need a presence in your dressing room in any Spanish-speaking club, Llorente is at least worth contacting to see if he would be interested.
