Manchester United Club History
Manchester United have been at the top of English football for many years, that soon changed in 2013 when club legend Alex Ferguson left as the club manager and retired from football. The club has had some top managerial names appointed, but they can't seem to find that winning formula from the past — the likes of David Moyes, Louis Van Gaal and Jose Mourinho. Today we see Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at the helm.
HONOURS LIST
National Honours
- First Division/Premier League - 20 League Titles
- FA CUP - 12
- League Cup - 5
- Community Shield - 17
European Honours
- UEFA Champions League - 3
- UEFA Europa League - 1
- European Super Cup - 1
- FIFA Club World Cup - 1
A pretty impressive honours list that we hope you can add to on your time in charge of this fantastic club. A lack of trophies has come after 2013, and the club hasn't managed to find stability in the league or Europe since.
Manchester United have some fierce rivalries with the Likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and of course, Manchester City, the noisy neighbours that seem to be taking over English football. Stopping Man City has to be one of your goals in this save and give your fans back the bragging rights.
Recent League Placings
Let's have a glance at the Premier League placings since Alex Ferguson left.
- 2013-2014 - 7th
- 2014-2015 - 4th
- 2015-2016 - 5th
- 2016-2017 -6th
- 2017-2018 - 2nd
This list shows the poor league form since 2013, finishing in the top 4 twice and never really challenging for the title even the 2nd place finish seen them 19 points behind their rivals Man City. When you get in the hot seat at Old Trafford you need to bring back that spark and title challenges each season, it's what the fans are used to, and if you don't they soon voice their opinions.

Man Utd Finances in FM19
Being one of the wealthiest football clubs in the world will bring no surprise to the healthy transfer and wage budget you receive in your first season.
- Minimum Transfer Budget = £62M
- Maximum Transfer Budget = £70M
- Minimum Wage Budget = £4M
- Maximum Wage Budget = £4.2M
Healthy finances to start your career and easy enough to reach the expectations set. The English media have predicted you to finish 5th, but I believe with the funds and players available, you should easily break back into the top 4 and secure a Champions League spot.
KEY PLAYERS
You have such a talented squad at your disposal, but I have picked my top 3 players you must keep hold of. These three are to be the core of your team, and I would personally build a squad around them.
David De Gea - One of the best goalkeepers on the game and at only 27 years old keeping him for many years is what you should do. Major clubs over the world are rumoured to be after his signature including Real Madrid.
Paul Pogba - You could of guess Pogba would be in the top three, getting the best out of Pogba is a must on this game he is a quality player and wants to be pulling strings in your midfield. Building your team around a player of this standard will bring your team on leaps and bounds above the rest. Twenty-five years old he still has so much to give to Manchester United keep him happy to get the best results.
Marcus Rashford - Finally Rashford Englands young superstar, the 20-year-old has the potential to be the best striker on the game. He can be used on either wing but to get his full potential, I would start him up front and keep getting him game time so he can improve. Lukaku and Rashford are two great strikers, and if you can find a tactic to compliment them both goals won't be an issue.
I would have to say that the defence at Manchester United needs heavy work, especially the centre backs, you have the likes of Smalling and Jones on huge wages that could be replaced with much more quality. As soon as you jump into this save, take a long hard look at your defence, I would personally look for a Vidic or Ferdinand figure like they used to have, It's what's missing from the squad.
The midfield has some good figures to work around Pogba and doesn't need too much work, with Matic and Herrera offering a nice partnership to the Frenchman. I would loan out young Scott McTominay to a team in the championship or at the lower end of the Premier league table. Make sure you keep a close eye on his loan deal and that he is getting the minutes needed to improve, he could be a big player in your saves future.
Strikers include Rashford and Lukaku two huge players for you, but having just the two strikers may lack depth, and I would look to bring in another for the season ahead. A youngster with great potential or an already world-class striker to top Lukaku, just work it around your tactic and make the correct decision needed.
FOOTBALL STYLE
Manchester United was always known for their attacking football and would blitz team off the field, Jose Mourinho killed this off with a more defensive approach that the fans couldn't get behind. As soon as you get to that tactical screen make sure attacking football is at the front of your mind. The park the bus trophyless seasons need to end, a new attacking style stamp needs to be printed at the club.
THE GOALS in FOOTBALL MANAGER 2019
Short Term - The short term goals for this save should easily be achieved with what you have. Challenging for the title in the first 2/3 seasons and getting closer to your rivals Liverpool and Manchester City.
Long Term - Get this club back to its glory days winning Premier League titles and having some fantastic runs in Europe. The Fergie days are needed again where you consistently challenge for every trophy each season.
Ultimate Goal - Remember the year of the treble? Do it again and recreate history under your name. This task seems an easy goal to say, but it will take squad depth and quality along with a perfect tactic. Can you achieve it?
Conclusion
