Teams to win the World Cup with in FM22

Winning the World Cup is the crown of any career, and winning it with one of these national teams will put you at the forefront of FM22.

One of the many joys of playing Football Manager is trying to lead a national team to major international honours. While most players instantly choose a club side to begin their virtual career and build their reputation, experienced players will tell you that managing a country can be just as challenging and rewarding, but in different ways. FM22 is a particularly special edition because, as we know, 2022 is a World Cup year, which means the tournament will fall in your second season in the game. This will give you enough time to prepare for it if you start a save with the national team of your choice. Here are some teams that would give you a good chance of winning while testing your abilities to the fullest.

Brazil

FM22 Brazil

Brazil is many people’s pick for tournament winners due to the deep pool of talent they can choose from and their illustrious World Cup history. According to the experts in football betting Betway, whose site features multiple markets for all major leagues and international competitions, Brazil will be the team to beat in Qatar, which is also reflected in FM22. Anyone who chooses to replace Tite for the World Cup in FM22 will face huge expectations from the Brazilian Football Confederation, who will accept nothing less than glory. Although, with world-class players like Neymar, Alisson and Casemiro, and a seemingly never-ending conveyor belt of young talent, any FM player worth his salt will fancy his chances.

England

FM22 England

On paper, the current England squad appears to be no match for the “Golden Generation” of the 2000s, which featured players like Rooney, Beckham, Lampard and Gerrard, who were all the main men for their clubs. However, you could argue that today’s Three Lions include more varied players with greater technical ability, who are closer to important cogs in their club systems, rather than bonafide starters. This is what makes England a fun team to try and win the World Cup with on FM22, with players like Mount, Foden, Grealish, Sterling, Kane and Saka all able to interchange roles and play multiple positions. There is now sufficient depth in most positions, so English FM fanatics will fancy their chances of bringing football home.

France

FM22 France

France is always a fun team to use in FM, thanks to the nation’s habit of producing technically gifted players in all positions. FM 22 is no different, and, as the reigning World Cup Champions, the French have even more motivation for Qatar 22. While managing some national teams can be a struggle in terms of finding enough quality players, the France job comes with the opposite problem: fitting all of the talented players into the squad! Figuring out the right tactics to maximise the talents of Kylian Mbappe, Ousmane Dembele, Paul Pogba, Antoine Griezmann, and Kingsley Coman will be a challenge, but the rewards will certainly be worth it for those who get it right.

Argentina

FM22 Argentina

Argentinian football fans and anyone who has paid attention to “La Albiceleste” will tell you that the manager’s job has been something of a poisoned chalice over the past 15 years. This is because it has coincided with the career of the true heir to the late Diego Maradona’s throne, Lionel Messi. The most talented player of his generation (and of all time, for some) demands that the national team be built around him, just as the side at FC Barcelona was for so many years. However, this has proved challenging for countless managers, although current boss Lionel Scaloni is doing a fine job having led the side to the 2021 Copa America Trophy. That win and the team’s current unbeaten run means now may be the perfect time to manage them, in what will surely be Messi’s last chance to win the big one.

Senegal

FM22 Senegal

Although Senegal will not be seen as one of the favourites for Qatar 2022, the “Lions of Teranga” will fancy their chances of matching the heroic 2002 side that reached the quarter-finals in South Korea that year. They have many reasons to feel confident, such as last year’s Africa Cup of Nations win over Egypt, which was driven by the many elite players Senegal has in the side. The likes of Sadio Mané, Kalidou Koulibaly, Edouard Mendy and Idrissa Gueye can all reasonably claim to be among the world’s best in their positions, so they could be the dark horse of the competition.
