Football Manager 2021 Brighton & Hove Albion tactic and team guide.
Club culture and board requirements, tactics, key players, youth prospects
and potential transfers in FM21.
Here is a brief analysis of the Brighton squad, their club structure, relationship any potential managers will have with the board, expectations and possible tactics any FM21 manager can use.
About the club
Brighton are a lower mid-table premier league team that have survived in the top flight for the past 3 seasons. Founded in 1901, Brighton have plied their trade in the lower echelons of English football for a majority of the time.
Board Requirements
Brighton had a mixed bag of a season in 2019-2020 when they were brilliant at times and really poor at other times. Their league position of 15th is probably a fair reflection of their performances. The board requirements, once you take over, will be;

1. Survive relegation from the Premier League
2. Make the 5th round of the FA Cup
3. Make the 4th round of the EFL Carabao Cup.
There will not be any specific philosophies on which you will be judged, however, you will be required to sign young players for the future and develop players using the club’s decent youth system. Keep in mind that Brighton have relatively low ambition and the budgets will often reflect this. You will need to rely on your youth recruitment for sustenance and should definitely improve facilities once you get a foothold at the club.

Squad, Formation and Tactical Style
The Brighton squad are blessed with some versatile players so the tactical style and formation can vary from manager to manager.
There are quite a few tactical setups you could deploy with Brighton, however the wing play or fluid counter-attacking style suits them the best.
A 3-4-3 formation is how they generally line up in real life and mimicking that would be preferable as we can play most players to their strengths. Alternatively, you can deploy a 4-3-3 or a 4-2-3-1 depending on which players you prefer to have in your starting XI.
A rough example of what your line-up would look like in a 3-4-3 formation is as follows;

Matt Ryan as a sweeper keeper.
Adam Webster, Lewis Dunk & Ben White as the 3 centre backs. Webster and White can be played as Ball Playing defenders.
Tariq Lamptey & Solly March as your wing-backs. They will be your main outlet of pressure.
Yves Bissouma & Adam Lallana in a 2 man midfield. The former as a box to box midfielder and the latter as a playmaker.
Leandro Trossard as your left inverted winger & Pascal Gross as a raumdeuter on the right
Neal Maupay leads the line as a Pressing Forward.
Alternatively, when you change to a 4-3-3 or a 4-2-3-1, you can play Burn as the left-back and Alzate slotting in as the 3rd central midfielder.

Key Players
1. Adam Lallana

The former Liverpool man is an extremely creative presence in midfield. His versatility makes it easy to fit him into most formations and should you keep him fit, he will contribute plenty in attack.
2. Lewis Dunk

The ever-reliable Lewis Dunk is the heart of the Brighton defence. He is an inspirational captain who marshals his troops brilliantly. He is also lethal from set-pieces.
3. Pascal Gross

Pascal Gross is a tricky winger with an eye for goal. He also takes very good set pieces and adds an extra dimension to the Brighton attack.
4. Leandro Trossard

The Belgian is one of the best players at the club. His versatility and goal threat will be crucial to securing good results.

Weaknesses
1. There is an overall lack of creativity in the team and goal opportunities can be hard to come by against good defences.
2. The overall squad depth is also quite average with the bench and reserve players lacking the quality required of the league.
3. There is very little room for changes in the transfer market and you will be left with gaping holes in the squad if your talent is poached by bigger clubs.
Potential Transfers (in)
Brighton have a relatively ok squad but these additions could further improve their depth and performances.
· Che Adams
· Emile Smith Rowe
Potential Transfers (Out)
These players may be surplus to requirements at the club or may not be of the expected quality.
· Florian Andone
· Bernardo
Youth Prospects
There are a few exciting young prospects in the ranks who have the potential to be impactful players in the league. A few examples are;
1. Tariq Lamptey

The former Chelsea right-back is already an important player for Brighton. His pace and acceleration make him one of the fastest defenders in the game and extremely hard to mark for even the best of defenders.
2. Ben White

Already the speculation of several transfers, White is a mainstay of the Brighton squad. His performances on loan had caught the eye of several teams and he is considered as one of the best young players at the club.
3. Alexis Mac Allister

The Argentine attacking playmaker is already good enough to be starting games and could be one of the best creative players at the club in future years.
Summary
To Summarize, Brighton may blow hot and cold in the league but with some smart buys and some youngsters rising through the ranks, it should not be a very difficult proposition to survive the board demands. Can you solidify Brighton as a regular PL club and take them to greater heights?
