Lower league bargains you can pick up for (next to) nothing for your team in Football
Manager 2021.
When you are scrambling around trying to find players who can turn your team around, it sure is tough to know where to start.
For most Football Manager 2021 players, then, a good place to look for an
early game bargain might be the
free agency section. This is often where you can find some pretty impressive deals on players
who are keen to get back in the game.
With finances, a little short for a lot of teams in the opening season, too, now might be the time to pull of a coup.
A well-loved player for many FM fans over the years, the Dane has picked up
5 caps for his nation and is now 28 years of age. A solid defender, you
could probably convince him to leave FC Midtjylland for around £1.5m.
The young Scotsman has been making a name for himself at Aberdeen for the
last couple of years. However, he could be picked up for a pretty small fee
given the clubs relatively poor finances in the current database in
FM21.
You might recognise the name from years ago; Reis was a former ‘wonderkid’
of sorts, expected to make waves at PSV Eindhoven. It never happened for a
whole range of reasons, but there is no doubting that Reis is a
talent.
The Kosovan has yet to really make good on the early promise in his career,
last seen at Heart of Midlothian up in Scotland, but he’s a solid player.
His technical traits and his touch of craft mean he could add a bit of extra
flair to any team in the English second or third tier, or teams in and
around the non-Old Firm teams in the SPFL.
A good player and a livewire, but will need constant cajoling to keep him onside.
The former Manchester City playmaker might be 33, but he could add a touch
of grandeur to any midfield in the English lower leagues. He’s got the
quality on the ball to help turn your team into a contender, though you will
obviously need to manage his fitness and lack of defensive qualities.
With finances, a little short for a lot of teams in the opening season, too, now might be the time to pull of a coup.
Erik Sviatchenko
He would offer any team chasing promotion in the English Championship or
similar an excellent standard of a defender to build around, even as you get
into the top-flight following the clean sheets he produces.
Lewis Ferguson
Convincing him to sign any lower than the English Championship might prove
difficult, but Ferguson could definitely add a touch of silk and steel to
most midfielders in the English second tier and would be a star in the third
tier for sure.
Jonathan Reis
At 31, he might be limited to lower European leagues and perhaps down the
leagues in England, but he is an intriguing enough prospect to think about
at least giving a trial to.
Donis Avdijaj
A good player and a livewire, but will need constant cajoling to keep him onside.
Stephen Ireland
As a player, though, he’s easily got the invention to be playing a level or
two higher than he’d be willing to come to play again regularly.
