When it comes to building the perfect midfield in Football Manager 2020, we all want a happy mix of technique and tackles. Building a rounded midfield, whether a two or a three, often requires a lot of balancing. This means that some more particular roles, such as that of the Roaming Playmaker, can often go under-utilised just like a Ladbrokes promo code. And since many players don’t naturally identify as an RPM, using one is a rarity in FM2020.
For players who want a high scoring midfielder who can use their physicality and their technique, though, an RPM makes good sense. Who, though, makes a good player in this role?
Here are some examples of players to look into.
Jude Bellingham

Fans of English football will know all about young Birmingham City starlet Jude Bellingham, now Borussia Dortmund player in real life. The youngster is a definite superstar of the future but carries all of the dynamism, natural talent, and physical capacity to play as an RPM without any issues.
He’s a fantastic pick and should absolutely be the first choice for any club signing UK-based talent in Football Manager 2020.
Fausto Vera

The young Argentine all-rounder is one to add to your list for a must-sign in the future. The youngster has next to no weaknesses to his game despite his tender age and experience and could feasibly play at any level in the game from his first season.
Vera is a player worth making space for in your team because he has every attribute needed to dominate midfields for a decade to come thanks to his industrious, ambitious nature.
Dominik Szoboszlai

The young Hungarian has been talked about in hushed tones for many years by FM players, but he is now really beginning to live up to his reputation. He’s maybe more suited to an Advanced Playmaker role in his first season or two, but some coaching adjustments could easily see him become the kind of playmaking talent that you need.
He’s got the height and power to become a top midfield talent if you devote enough coaching resources.
Kalvin Phillips

Another non-natural RPM, you could easily combine the physical dynamism with the intelligent passing and shooting range of Phillips to make a find Premier League midfielder. The Leeds United man is easily one of the most exciting domestic midfielders outside of the top flight and would improve most midfields.
With some coaching to help encourage his more offensive attributes, you could quickly and easily turn Phillips into a real dynamo in the heart of your midfield in England.
Orkun Kokcu

The young Turkish midfielder is playing for Feyenoord in real life but is almost certain to sign for another giant in the summer window to come. A bombastic midfielder with an eye for goal, Kokcu is definitely someone to build a midfield around if you are so inclined.
He’s always looking to move the ball up the pitch, forcing his team forward and thus more likely to score or set up goals. A very wise signing, but move fast before his value explodes!
