With the help of FM20 and online sports betting sites we've made a list of teams, that are according to these two sources, with the highest odds of being relegated in their first season.
For this list we look at English Premier League teams, they say it's the hardest footballing competition in the world, so staying up with a relegation dubbed club will be a super hard challenge.
1) SHEFFIELD UNITED
Billy Sharp will have to be at his top performance for you to have any chance of surviving. |
The newly-promoted team in the Premier League this season finishing second, securing automatic promotion from the Championship, thanks to their forward Billy Sharp and goalkeeper Dean Henderson. With the new additions like McBurnie and Mousset, they will give all in to stay at the top tier. However, this season they are just two points away from the safe zone but they can be a challenging team to fight for relegation this time in FM20.
Media Prediction: 20th / Relegation Odds: +700
2) NORWICH CITY
Teemu Pukki started this season firing from all cylinders, but same as Norwich he's now facing some bad times. |
Another newly promoted team from Championship League winning the title, thanks to Teemu Pukki’s scintillating form in front of the goal. Not much of star values in the arrival side of the transfer market but free transfer Drmic’s potential surely catches our eye. The young winger from Man City on loan Patrick Roberts is a wonderkid in the previous versions of Football Manager series. So, Norwich city surely has the quality to stay in the Premier League, but are also a relegation battle candidate.
Media Prediction: 19th / Relegation Odds: -400

3) ASTON VILLA
Jack Grealish will be your key figure at Aston Villa, hopefully he'll guide far from relegation zone. |
Another newly promoted team from Championship League winning the playoff knockouts, courtesy to the Chelsea for their loan player Tammy Abraham and free transfer John Terry for his leadership experience. With the additions of young players like Wesley, Douglas Luiz, Trezeguet and Mings, they have all the potential to stay up top. So, Aston villa surely is a relegation candidate, but they would need a manager like you to take them to a safe place.
Media Prediction: 16th / Relegation Odds: +300
4) BRIGHTON
Some of the hard core FM players will remember Neal Maupay being a wonderkid while he played in France top tier. |
After getting promoted from Championship back in 2016/17 season, they are still struggling to make it to the safe mid-table finish and regularly a relegation battler with their last three finishes in the Premier League being 15th and 17th. They have added young potentials like Neal Maupay from Brentford, Adam Webster from Bristol city and Trossard from Genk. They do have a new manager to change things around this time, but we think you can take them to a mid-table finish they are longing for.
Media Prediction: 18th / Relegation Odds: +550
5) SOUTHAMPTON
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg at just 23 years of age will be your club captain, and rightfully so. |
The teams which produce world-class players for Liverpool and Barcelona but they are struggling at the bottom for the past two seasons finishing 17th(one place above relegation),16th (two players above relegation),and start of this new season hasn’t been that great either standing 17th in GW11, with the points equal to the relegation placed Newcastle with Goal Difference being the only separator between the two. In the transfer side it’s the other way around this time, they have bought a player from Liverpool, Danny Ings which is a good addition but they surely lack the quality and squad depth that is needed. If you want to have a relegation challenge team, Southampton needs your guidance in terms of tactics and also the transfers.
Media Prediction: 12th / Relegation Odds: +150
