Arsenal, Liverpool, Leverkusen, Bayern Munich and Bordeaux are just some of the clubs that were interested in signing Kingsley Coman.
When in 2011. young teenager Paul Pogba left Man UTD because he didn't want to be on the bench at Old Traford, football fans logically backed Sir Alex, rather than an unknown player with unusual taste for hairstyles.
Two years later, United are struggling with their midfield line and are on the lookout for a quality player, while the price of Juve's player reached astonishing 70.000.000 euros. The Old Lady made a similar transfer in this summer window - Coman cost them nothing! Board of directors at PSG are probably already now banging their heads at the wall.
Coman, who's an attacking midfielder by default, was brought in the shadow of Alvaro Morata who came to Turin club for a price of 22.000.000 euros from Real Madrid. But thankfully Massimiliano Allegri introduce him to the first squad in the first Juventus Serie A fixture, and Coman returned the favour by grabbing man of the match award.
He never made the cut in PSG, even thou he was selected two times as the best young player at the club. All he manage to achieve at the Paris club was the title of youngest ever player to play for the A team, he was only 16 at the time. After his contract with PSG expired, he decided it was time to move on and the interest for his services was high;
"Arsenal, Liverpool, Leverkusen, Bayern Munich and Bordeaux wanted me. I took my time with the Girondins and also had a word with Willy Sagnol, he knew me from the youth France selection, so he promised me a good play time. But I was thinking about moving to Juve."
Then Coman revealed why was the Italian champion his club of choice;
"Juventus has a great history behind them with French players. Some of them made great careers there, so I said to myself - why wouldn't I try as well? So I was presented by the project at the club from Juventus directors, and a story about Pogba how youth players get the chance to prove themselves."
Coman also added how in Italy, compared to France, players are not judged by their age, but rather on the quality of their game.
They often compare him with Pogba for similar career decisions, looks, hair styles and nationalities, but the young French has a quite different game style. Pogba is more orientated to the middle of the field, while his three years younger successor can play at any of the three positions in the offensive third - just behind the strikers, but also on both wings. Also, he can play as a striker.
Juve made a great deal by bringing Coman to their side, he is incredibly fast and has a great technique. His preferred leg is right, although he can use his weaker left leg equally well. He can dictate the tempo of the game, and having in mind all the talents in Juve such as Pirlo, Tevez etc. there is no doubt he will improve his game even more in the future.
Young Frenchman is also a great team player, but one thing is missing to his game, his goal scoring record. He'll have to work more on his composure in front of goal.
Do we have on our hands one of the best French talents ever? Can he be great as Michele Platini, Didier Deschamps, Patrick Vieira, Zinedine Zidane and the latest young star Paul Pogba? Once Football Manager 2015 comes out in November, we'll definitely find that out!
