Review
Time to review West Brom youngster George Thorne, who has a potential to become one of the finest defensive midfielders in Football Manager 2014. At 20 years old, he just made it to our wonderkids review list, and we're glad to make a review of such potential.
George is primarily a defensive midfielder, but also can play as a midfielder centre also in a deep lying playmaker role, both positions are natural to him. His strongest area of game is the fact that he is a team player, which is really important for a midfielder to have.
His starting attributes are far from great, but he can easily be a good signing for most Sky Bet Championship sides. But definitely not a player who will make an immediate impact at any stronger side from Premiership.
Solid development, but not a top class material, George is a mediocre midfield player that could come handy as a substitute to your first team picks. Best development can be seen in Technical part of his game, as well as Mental.
His career stats show us that he is not a constant performer, and also proofs that he is not a player for important matches. Nevertheless, he did manage to capture 48 caps for England national side, and has added 4 goals to his tally in the process.
West Brom are unwilling to sell him at the start of the game, and your best option is to sign him at the end of his contract with The Baggies. Price will range somewhere between £4 - £7M. If you can get him anywhere near this price range then do it, if not, it's best to look somewhere else.
Finally, George is a solid player in Football Manager 2014, not a top class one, but a solid substitute for you defensive or central midfielders.
