Building a Scottish Core for Your Club's Future Success
Are you on the hunt for the next big thing in Scottish football? Look no further than Football Manager 2023, where you can discover the top Scottish wonderkids to sign and build a Scottish core for your club's future success. In this article, we've rounded up some of the most promising Scottish talents, including the likes of Leon King, Josh Doig, Nathan Patterson, Elliot Anderson, Ben Doak, and Owen Moffat. These players have the potential to become elite footballers and can help you take your team to the next level. Whether you're a seasoned FM player or new to the game, this list will help you discover the cream of the crop in Scottish football.
Leon King
Starting off with one of the most promising centre-backs Scotland has seen for a while, Leon King is already making waves in Rangers’ first team and attracting interest from some of the biggest clubs in the world. At 18 years old, he already has the bravery, composure and strength of an imposing physical defender, and a mean tackler to boot. If you can develop his heading, you’ll have a brick wall at the back and a serious threat from set pieces.
Josh Doig
Nathan Patterson
While Scotland’s riches at left back are well known, the emergence of Patterson and Calvin Ramsay means we finally have elite talent coming through on at right back as well. With both moving to Merseyside in the last year, there’s plenty of attention already on these promising youngsters. For my money, Patterson has the higher ceiling for your FM save. He can attack and defend in equal measure, and looks set for more first team football in the short-term than Calvin Ramsay will get at Liverpool. Based on my experiences of him in FM22, he can also successfully be retrained as a left back or as a right midfielder, giving him a versatility that could be crucial during the festive fixture pileups.
Elliot Anderson
Ben Doak
If you haven’t seen any of this young man’s highlights for Liverpool’s youth teams, go and do it. Right now. Doak’s technical ability is plain for all to see, as is his eye for goal: he’s got 6 goals in 11 appearances across all competitions for Liverpool u18s. Internationally he also has two u21 caps for Scotland, despite being only 16 years old. Liverpool have high hopes for Ben, but with the wealth of talent coming from their academy you just might be able to lure him away with the promise of first team football.
Owen Moffat
Conclusion
I couldn’t possibly have mentioned all the high-potential Scottish players on FM23, but I hope this article has given you an idea of the talent emerging from Scotland. With the players above - and some previous Scottish FM favourites like Kerr Smith, Chris Mochrie and Ethan Laidlaw - you can easily build a Scottish core into your club as you look to take on the world.
