Looking to build the next generation of German stars in Football Manager 2023? Use this list to make sure you are buying the brightest stars of tomorrow!
Ask anyone around the sport, and they will tell you that German football is in a transitional phase. The dominating national team side of 2010-2015 has gone, and in its place has been a hodgepodge of players of various ability levels. However, as this list of German wonderkids in Football Manager 2023 shows, there are many exciting young talents coming through.
Who should be in your Bundesliga-winning team of the future? What young Germans should you keep a close eye on as they develop into stardom?
1. Faaris Yusufa – GK, Schalke 04
There is something about Yusufa that makes him easy to love. His technical qualities are obvious for a keeper, and his generally excellent athleticism for one so young is an impressive feat also. If you are looking for a GK to buy to build around for years to come, Yusufa should be on your list.
Schalke are in dire straits financially, too, so you could use this to your advantage and pick up a tremendous young player for a relative pittance.
2. Malick Thiaw – CB, Milan
Thiaw has all of the ability that one would expect when looking for a young central defender. At age 20, too, he is ready for top-flight action. Buy him for the right team in the country, and you could literally have your backline secured for years to come. Schalke have a history of producing really good young defenders, and it looks like Thiaw – like Yusufa above – will help the Royal Blues keep that impressive record going.

The main challenge with getting this hot shot into your team is he played for FC Bayern – not many Germans leave FC Hollywood, unfortunately.
If you can manage to get Aseko Nkili to join, though, you are buying a player who, at 16, could easily play second-tier football. You could probably move him into the Bundesliga as early as 2023, too; such is his potential. He has very impressive stats overall and brings a very comfortable game overall. He is sound technically, strong enough for a teenager, and reads the game far better than players in their early 20s.
Out of all of the German wonderkids in Football Manager 2023, Aseko Nkili might be one of the most exciting. He keeps things simple, his game intelligence is obvious, and you could see him as a major part of your team for years to come.
3. Noel Aseko Nkili – DM/CM, FC Bayern

4. Paul Wanner – AM, FC Bayern
He is one who you would need to pay through the nose for to get, or wait for him to get fed up of waiting for a chance at FCB. If you can land him, though, there is no doubt at all that you are buying a very good young midfielder. He might need some purpose and direction to make sure he fulfils his potential, but there is absolutely no doubting that Wanner could be one of the stars of tomorrow.
5. Youssoufa Moukoko – CF, Borussia Dortmund
He is easily one of the most exciting young forwards in not only German football but world football. In the entire Football Manager 2023 database, we could only find one striker who had more potential than Moukoko. In reality, he is scoring goals at a solid rate for BVB, and he is definitely a player you could trust to do an excellent job for the Schwarzgelben.
Convincing them to sell will be tough, but he is out of contract in 2023, so if you move fast, you could and a genuinely unique striking talent for relatively little. He needs time to develop physically, but his eye for goal and his technical excellence are not in doubt – alongside the likes of Jamal Musiala, Moukoko is seen as a ‘sure thing’ in terms of the future of German football.
The above list provides five excellent young stars of tomorrow to watch out for; who will you go for first?
