What is Blackburn Rovers’s history?

Seen by many as the second-greatest anomaly in Premier League history, Blackburn Rovers were deserved league winners back in 1995. They were relegated in 1999, though, and since then, the club has never really managed to restore itself. A period of relative progress under Mark Hughes came in the mid-2000s, but since then, it has been a mixture of relegations and poor play under Venky’s, the owners of the club.

Blackburn Rovers are a big club, with a proud local tradition, and a history of playing in Europe. They also have won the FA Cup six times, and the League Cup once. This is not a small club, but a relatively snoring giant.

The team finished a poor 15th in 2020-21, so you should be looking to at least aim for the playoffs in your first year, or you could be under pressure from day one.

Who are the best players at Blackburn Rovers?

Key forward Adam Armstrong is gone, so you are looking to make some pretty smart moves. However, you do have some very good players to build around from day one.

Bradley Dack is a Premier League player in-waiting, and keeping him will be vital to making good on your progress. You have some interesting young talent, too, in Ryan Nyambe and Lewis Travis. Both are worth building around, offering a full-back and midfielder who you can turn into a Premier League player.

Veterans such as Daniel Ayala and Bradley Johnson are Championship level, and should be just what you are looking for to help fill in squad gaps. In terms of potential, look to give as much time as you can to Chilean forward Ben Brereton-Diaz, a highly talented forward at second tier level.

John Buckley and Daniel Butterworth are very talented young players, too, so finding time for them should be high-up on your list of things to do. Also, Jack Vale is a young striker who should be in the first-team picture as soon as possible.
