A few days into my new career at the helm of Leeds United, and after the usual gubbins of replacing back room staff, setting scouting assignments up etc, I've looked closely at the squad and decided the backbone of the squad is quite a good one. Quality young fullbacks in Byram (pre winter update) and Taylor, Lewis Cook and Alex Mowatt in midfield, and Tom Adeyemi on loan, and believe it or not even Chris Wood has decent stats.
I've decided on a 4-2-3-1, with Lewis Cook perfectly suited to a regista role next to a half back to sit in an improvised back 3 when the full backs go charging forward. I like my possession football, which is something I'll really have to work on at Thorpe Arch, because the teams collective passing ability ranks in the bottom half of league.
With Sol Bamba's pace at an unbelievable 14 I am opting for a high defensive line paying an offside trap.
As far as new signings go, I'm yet to dip my toe into the market, I've my scouts constantly updating me on a few players, Anthony Stokes is transfer listed, Conor McAleny at Everton also. As far as my home grown aim goes I may have to put it on the back burner for a few seasons at least, as they are just too damn expensive. I'll have to look at youngsters to mould into first teamers over a period of time.
I need cover for my half back, an advanced playmaker, and a winger or two, and despite his stats I can't bring myself to play Chris Wood up front, especially when he's earning £17k a week, guess that was one of Massimo's lunatic moments.
Any ideas to fill those spots?
