Kevin Volland - FM Scout Report
Astonishing young player from Germany's Bundesliga side Hoffenheim that has a great Potential Ability in Football Manager 2014, this young lad is called Kevin Volland, and he is your next best thing if you're looking for a replacement for Mario Gotze.
Naturally a player that plays best in a Striker position given a False Nine role. But, to get the most of this wonderkid, it is advisable that you start training him to Winger role for the left attacking midfield position. In this position he will truly flourish and play his best football.
He's starting attributes do suggest that he is more winger than a striker. He's got the technical attributes, but lacks composure in front of goal to score. So it's really for the best to train him as a winger, rather than striker.
If you did train him to a winger role, you can expect both goals and assists throughout the seasons. Because his composure will develop as years pass by, and he is only going to get better in technical department. Not to mention that you'll have a player that will kill your opponents only with his pace and acceleration.
This lad really resembles to Mario Gotze, especially now that Pep Guardiola made Gotze a false nine type of player in Bayern, although he plays best at the left side of the pitch or behind the attackers.
With this type of quality comes a hefty price to pay. You can get him at the start of the game, but you'll have to spend most of your transfer money.
Estimated cost of Kevin Volland is set at £9.25M - £12M price range.
Is it much?
For most clubs this a large price to pay, especially given the fact that he won't make an immediate impact at your team, you'll have to wait for 2 or 3 season for him to truly adapt to your tactics and your team's style of play.
Nevertheless, Kevin Volland is quality player, no doubt about it. A must buy for any serious club in Football Manager 2014.
