Now, you may be thinking that many teams have kept Ozil quiet, this is very true but what makes this story even more staggering is that Reece Oxford is 16 YEARS OLD!! (Was 16 at the time). He is currently being linked with a £15million move to Manchester United which is a huge fee but shows his potential.Moving on to Football Manager and a save you may have currently running. If you like to invest in youth, buy Reece Oxford at the start of your game for a small fee or if you are a season or 2 in, then buy him for £5-10million.
That all sounds easy and straightforward but it isn’t as simple as that with Reece. I would advise scouting him first to ensure he wants to join your club. I had issues as Manchester United trying to get him. There is a way around it, declare your interest in signing him. This should make him go to the media and suggest he could be tempted by a move to you. This then opens up the possibility of being able to negotiate a contract with him which as long as you offer him close to what he wants, he will sign.
You could keep him as a squad player to begin with, introducing him to the first team for cup games whilst making him available for the U21 team. You could also put him in the U18 team to develop with the rest of your talented players so he doesn’t get too much too soon.
He is a Centre back or Centre/Defensive mid which are a great couple of positions to be trained in as it gives you more options and could save you some money on a bigger player. Give him a chance and he will not let you down.
You can see from his stats below, he has a lot of room to improve and grow but given time, the right training and a few seasons and he’ll be a first team player in no time and worth so much more.
Sign him up and comment how you get on with him in your squad.
