Melbourne City is a team to manage if you are looking for a 'clean slate' style save in FM21.
This save would be an interesting one to undertake for any manager as they seek out a save within Australian football as the relatively short history of the club provides a ‘clean slate’ style save where you will basically dictate the history of the club throughout your time there. Here are a couple reasons why I think this would be a good save to undertake.

I know many people, myself included, like to assemble their own team of backroom staff to work their way to glory with. However, should you choose to keep the backroom staff already at the club, you will have a decent team behind you with enough experience and expertise to really get the most out of the team and advise you on anything you need.
The Backroom Staff

One of these backroom members is the assistant manager, Des Buckingham. After his professional playing career didn’t materialise, Buckingham took to coaching and has taken several high profile jobs such as the Wellington Phoenix job in 2017 and even becoming New Zealand’s assistant manager in 2018, as well as several youth team coaching jobs throughout his career.
This experience at your side can be vital for less experienced managers as the advice they give can be an important factor in your success.
Another highlight within this coaching squad is goalkeeping coach Neil Young. An experienced goalkeeper in his day with teams such as Sorrento FC, Melbourne Knights and Newcastle Jets, Young has the coaching experience and know-how to help you train your last line of defence in the squad.
Whilst the football club itself may be relatively new, this doesn’t mean the playing squad is inexperienced, and there are several highlights within this team that can help you to glory. One of these players is current captain Scott Jamieson.

The Playing Squad
Whilst the football club itself may be relatively new, this doesn’t mean the playing squad is inexperienced, and there are several highlights within this team that can help you to glory. One of these players is current captain Scott Jamieson.
The former Bolton Wanderers, Adelaide United and Western Sydney Wanderers left-back has enjoyed most of his career within his native Australia after having a youth career at English club Bolton Wanderers and has the experience needed to help lead the back line and provide a solid base going forward.
Another highlight within this squad is English forward Craig Noone. After spending most of his career within the English mid to lower leagues with teams such as Plymouth Argyle, Cardiff City and Bolton Wanderers, Noone moved to Australia in 2019 and finds himself within the colours of Melbourne City, ready to help fire City to their first A-League title and set up some glory years for the young football club.
Despite the lack of history within the club to base success around, a manager wanting to take on the challenge of Melbourne City will be able to create their own legacy within the football club, and with a good backroom staff and players behind you, there is room to do just that.
