The Champions League semi-finalist from the 2018-2019 season is one of the most obvious selections on this list. The club boasts of the one of the best youth academy’s in the world constantly produces some of the brightest talents in football.
Their attacking style of football coupled with them playing in a relatively weaker league will ensure that any manager that takes over the club has a goal glut in most games. AFC Ajax being the defending Eredivisie and the KNVB cup champions is an added benefit with most of the squad likely to get a stat boost from previous Football Manager versions.
Despite key stars like Frankie DeJong and Matthijs De Ligt leaving, the club boasts of some serious young talent like David Neres, Donny Van De Beek, Hakim Ziyech & FM20 wonderkid Ryan Gravenberch.

2. Borussia Dortmund
The 2nd club on the list is Borussia Dortmund. The club has a rich history in German football combined with arguably one the best fan bases in the world. Dortmund is home to some of the best talent in current football. The players are a blend of youngsters and experienced campaigners making it a very balanced squad.
The club is relatively successful with 2 Bundesliga titles in the last decade alone. With a huge stadium of nearly 82,000 capacity, very loyal fans and a stable chairman the club is one of the most stable teams on this list.

Beating an ageing Bayern Munich side might be an incentive in itself for managers to choose Dortmund as an exciting FM 20 Challenge.
To conclude, with some serious young talent like Jadon Sancho, Hakimi Achraf & Julian Weigl in their ranks along with seasoned pros like Marco Reus & Mario Goetze Dortmund could be the go-to for many FM managers looking for a challenge and some stability.

3. Atletico Madrid
Atletico probably boast of the strongest squad on this list and with good reason. If stability is the name of the game Atletico are right up there with the best.
Having qualified for the Champions league 7 times in a row & ranking 2nd on the UEFA coefficient table, Atletico Madrid would be a safe place to start for anyone who is looking for excitement in a stable club environment. Very passionate fans and a 70,000 Capacity stadium is an added benefit for anyone taking over as manager.
Atletico are home to one of the brightest talents in world football at the moment in Joao Felix. The player who is dubbed on the next Ronaldo will probably have one of the highest “Potential Ability” in Football Manager 2020.

Atletico also boast of some superstars who are in their prime (Koke, Jose Gimenez, Saul etc) and other exciting young talent like Thomas Lemar & Angel Correa.
To conclude, the excitement of managing a future Ballon D’or winner like Joao Felix and the prospect of overthrowing giants Barcelona & Real Madrid is simply too enticing to give up on and Atletico will probably be the destination of most managers who want a challenge.
4. Chelsea
This may come as a surprise to many but Chelsea is the last club on my list and this might be the most exciting and toughest of challenges. With a lot of financial baggage, a trigger happy owner, a transfer ban and the departure of their best player (Eden Hazard), Chelsea may not be ideal for new managers, but hey, what is FM without a challenge.
Despite all the negatives mentioned, Chelsea are home to some of the best young players in their league if not entire Europe. They house great young talents in Callum Hudson Odoi, Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount & Reece James with the ever steady Kante, Willian & Azpilicueta acting as mentors offering experience.

With a very good youth setup and top notch training facilities it is not very hard to help these youngsters reach their potential and build a squad that has world beaters.
To conclude, if playing in the toughest league in the world and proving doubters wrong is your calling card then Chelsea is the team to pick. Beating Guardiola and Klopp to the title is a dream and will rank as one of the greatest‘s accomplishments for any FM Manager. What’s more exciting than doing it with a transfer ban?!
