What is Partick Thistle’s history?

If you are looking for a real challenge in the Scottish game, then why not look to Glasgow? That’s right, Partick Thistle. The Jags are a Glasgow-based club who play out of the Partick area of the city. Of course, unlike Celtic and Rangers they are not a title competitor. In fact, they currently sit in the third tier of the Scottish game.

The Maryhill Magyars are a well-loved club, known for their famous red and yellow jerseys. Success is not really something that comes very often, with the club having won the Scottish Cup and the Scottish League Cup once each.

The objective at Partick Thistle is to get promoted to the Championship, and then work to get promoted to the Premier League by the fourth season in. This should be easy enough, though Scottish football has a habit of seeing a ‘big’ club with more resources relegated from the top flight. This can make your promotion push, with just one certain promotion spot, a little more frustrating than it can be with other clubs.

However, if you are looking for a team with a proper challenge then be sure to take on Partick Thistle. This is a club with a rather bohemian fanbase, but they do have some expectation – they are a relative name in the second and third tier. So, you will be expected to win more than you lose until you get back into the top flight. Like most Scottish clubs, you will be relying on free contracts and short-term deals to get your team together, as well as loans from the top-flight.

The current Thistle squad is made up a strange collection of players, many of whom played in the top-flight in the past.
