Champions League Matchday 6 Picks and Predictions

It's matchday 6 of the Champions League group stage. Some big names including Juventus, Manchester United, Liverpool and Roma will be playing their decisive games this week.

Group stage of the Champions League reaches it's climax on Tuesday and Wednesday, when the finest clubs in European football will battle out for the last remaining spots for the knock-out round of this elite competition.

With eight clubs already qualified for the knock-out phase we are left with 8 more spots unfilled. Clubs like Juventus, Man United, Roma, Atletico Madrid, Liverpool and Napoli are still in the run for these remaining 8 spots and will do everything in their power to qualify from the group stage.

Man Utd vs CSKA Moscow

Jose Mourinho field his best eleven in his last outing in the Champions League, but even that wasn't enough to finally snatch a win in Switzerland against Basel. United lost 1 - 0 and now find themselves in a very uncomfortable position where they must win against the Russian's in their last group game to proceed further.

As said, United must win this one, and everybody is expecting them to get away with a good result here and top the group. United to win odds are set at 2/5, but if you're feeling a bit hazardous and maybe seeing CSKA drawing this one the odds are 15/4 or even taking a step further and if you see United losing this one like they did in Switzerland the odds are 13/2.

Roma vs Qarabağ

Roma will be playing home against the inferior Azerbaijan side in their last group game. Should the Italian team win and Chelsea drew or maybe lost a game against Atletico, the Italians would top their group. Truly a though group, and only a win will see Roma advance from it.

Roma could go for a draw in this game, but then they would be depending on the result from the other game in their group, and this is somthing I can't see Italians doing. They will go all out and snatch a win to secure knock.out phase of the Champions League.

PREDICTION: Roma 3 - 0 Qarabağ

Olympiakos vs Juventus

Barcelona are the winners of the Group D no matter what the outcome is between them and Sporting and the game between Juventus and the Greek side Olympiakos. But on the other hand, if Juve draw or lose in Greek, and if Sporting wins against Barca, then the Italian champion will be out of the European race for good!

Juve are coming into this match as clear favourites on paper, but my thoughts are that in reality the Greeks will give a truly hard time to the Italians in this match. Juve is not playing well at the moment and are struggling to find their best form and formation for that matter.

PREDICTION: Olympiakos 1 - 2 Juventus

Liverpool vs Spartak Moskva

Liverpool will be looking for a win in this one to secure top position in the group, but will they achieve it, well, that's a whole other story. In their first clash the result was 1 - 1, but it has to be noted that the game was played in Russia, and it's always hard to perform, even thou the Reds were a better opponent in the game.

But nevertheless, with a win imperative gloaming over their heads on Wednesday night, the Reds might find themselves in some high-pressure fixture as Spartak Moskva will also be looking for a positive result to keep their dreams of qualifying further alive.
