What About Wolves? - FM16 Wolves Save

After a season of such promise ended in disappointment Wolves sacked Kenny Jackett and I have decided to become their new manager. The main reason for why I have chosen Wolves is that they are a sleeping giant due to the fact that they have three First Division titles and four FA Cups to their name. I will be using the Lfc marshall update so I can use the clubs up to date squad and so that the likes of Newcastle and Burton will be joining me in the championship.

 Clubs Current Situation:
Starting transfer budget - £13.5 million
Starting wage budget - £282,896 p/w
Division - Sky Bet Championship
Board Expectations - Win Promotion, Reach the Fifth Round in the FA Cup and Reach the Fourth Round in the Capital One Cup
Founded - 1877
Stadium - Molineux, 30,852 all seater

Goals for the save:

  • Develop young, homegrown players into the first team
  • Assert Domestic Dominance
  • Win the Champions League
1st Season Objectives:

  • Achieve promotion to the English Premier Division either automatically or via the play-offs
  • Be competitive in cup competitions
Current Squad:

The Wolves squad is of a decent quality and should be good enough for a promotion challenge but there are a few areas which I need to improve. For example there is no recognised defensive midfielder and I need to bring in a third choice striker. The key players in the side are Carl Ikeme, Silvio, David Edwards and Nouha Dicko.

Within the squad their are a few bright prospects which I plan to develop and use within the first team for many seasons to come:

I have decided to deploy a 4-5-1 tactic which I have created myself. It is the first time I have used this tactic so anything could happen.

The tactic which I have built aims to use width as its main outlet as I have competent wingers who have good crossing attributes. Also I plan for my full backs to push forward to provide support for my wingers and hopefully they will get a good amount of assists. The midfield three will be crucial as they will be the key to linking the defence and attack with the box-to-box midfielder hopefully supporting the attack and the deep-lying playmaker protecting the back four. The tactic will also tell the players to close down the opposition when they have possession of the ball and to get stuck in, this is because I prefer my team to be aggressive and determined to win the ball back. This tactic could easily change before the start of the season as it needs to be tested in my pre-season fixtures.

I hope you have enjoyed my first blog. I plan to provide updates every in-game month which will tell you about how I have got on in the matches, any changes behind the scene and who has been the player of the month. Any suggestions or improvements please comment.
