One of the most popular custom skins for Football Manager is back! FMEnhanced is bringing us the Zealand skin, which is super useful and absolutely astonishing! 

Skin Features

User Interface

• Custom Backgrounds are supported, albeit through a semi-transparent screen, for the best legibility.
• The theme is generally dark with coloured accents.

Active Leagues

• When starting a new game and choosing your Active Leagues, you are now able to sort the columns to easily see which mode you have the league set to.

Manager Home Pane

• Same as last year with no modifications as of yet.

Tactics

• Minor changes to the tactics panel, mainly the modified player icon to include the players' image.

Individual Training

• I have modified the Individual Training panel so that when multiple players are selected, the user can Praise/Criticise training performance much faster. Selected players show up as part of a list, all with their own Praise/Criticise buttons, which disappear when an action has been completed. No more clicking back and forth.

Schedule

• The fixture details panel is the same as last year, with better-showcasing fixtures and results by including the stadium image and event details.

Scouting

• Last year, I secretly made it possible to create your own Scouting Views by right-clicking on the Scouting Table. This is not possible in the default skin, though was added by request.
• A specific NewGan View has been added by default so that importing faces from NewGan can be done a lot more easily.

Club Overview

• The Club Overview has been entirely overhauled since last year to better display relevant club information.

Match

• The touchline tablet is currently unchanged from last year, as is the scoreboard.
• The official Champions League scoreboard has been updated to include club logos, mirroring other official Champions League graphics.

Player Overview

• As always, the highlight of any FME Skin is the Player Overview. I have opted for a "Player Card" design and remodelled the lower section containing the smaller "selector panels".

Zealand Tutorials

• Just like last year, players are able to quickly jump into any relevant Zealand tutorial from wherever they may be in the game. Sections have specific tutorials assigned to them and can be viewed by clicking on the YouTube icon, which appears at the top of the screen.

Social Media

• All relevant Zealand Social Media links are present from within the game menu so that all followers and fans alike can quickly catch up on and keep up to date with all Zealand news, video releases and streams.

Skin Installation Instructions

After you have downloaded a file, it will generally come in one of three formats:

• zip 
• rar
• 7z 

Zip files should be automatically supported by your OS and may show up as compressed folders; Rar and 7z files may require you to download some software to extract the files. 

The below software is recommended:

• Windows users - WinRar (Choose the most recent .exe file)

WinRar is installed using the .exe you download, following the instructions on-screen. Download the top option from the downloads page. 

• macOS users - The Unarchiver

To install The Unarchiver, simply double-click on the .zip file you download from their website, then drag the program it extracts (called 'The Unarchiver') into your apps folder.

Once you've installed the extracting software on your operating system, create a new folder and place your downloaded skin rar in it.

1. Extract the skin files as follows:

• Windows - Right-click on your rar. Choose WinRar from the menu, then select 'Extract Here'.

• macOS X - Right-click (or ctrl + click) on your zip, rar or 7z. Choose 'open with', then select 'The Unarchiver'.

2. Locating Your User Data Location

Once you have downloaded and extracted your files, move them over to your 'user data location' so the game can read them.

The default location of your 'user data location' will be slightly different depending on the OS you are using;

• Windows users - C:\Users\\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2023\skins

• Mac OS X users - /Users//Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2023/skins

Now open up your skins folder and place the folder you extracted inside it.

*if this folder doesn't exist, just create a new folder and call it 'skins'.

3. Displaying Skins In-Game

To select the skin in-game, load Football Manager 2023 and go into;

• Preferences > Advanced > Interface
• In this panel, you'll find an option called 'Skin' with a drop-down menu next to it. 

Select the drop-down menu to view your installed skins, then select and confirm.

If the skin is not showing in the game

If the skin you want isn't showing, then go to;

• Preferences > Advanced > Interface

Scroll down the interface page to Skin instructions; here, you must;

• untick 'Use caching to decrease page loading times' 
• tick 'Reload skin when confirming changes in preferences' 
• then select confirm

When you re-enter the preferences menu, it should have refreshed the list of skins to show your skin in the above list.

Once the skin is loaded, you can turn the skin cache back on and un-tick the 'always reload' button.

• Skins will only work on the version of the game they are designed for (so FM 23 skins will only work with FM 2023 and not older versions of the game, nor newer ones), and Touch and Full Mode skins aren't compatible, so if you are using the Touch version, you will only be able to use Touch skins.
