Is work getting in the way of your Football Manager career?

So you've just spent the weekend battling away with your Conference League side and are currently on the cusp of being promoted into the professional divisions of English football. It's taken a lot of strategic, tactical planning to get this far and you're in the zone.

You can see the dream coming true now, your Conference side getting into the Champions League and if real-life listed odds for your sides inclusion in Europe's finest competition - it would surely be worth a punt! But unfortunately, you can't back your own team for glory in this case and it's also Monday tomorrow, which means you have to go back to work. The dream is over and you're back to reality, even thou you could escape to online casinos and keep seeking your fortune.

Many people would love to be a professional football manager but unfortunately for most, they have to try and hold down a job. Everyone who plays Football Manager knows that it's more than just a game, it's a way of life. So how do you fit your job in around your budding Managerial career?

Even though you know that the next match is so important - it could make or break your season - calling in sick to work and telling your manager that simply just won't cut it. They wouldn't understand unless they were a Football Manager enthusiast themselves. So you have to painstakingly save your progress and wait the whole day to get back and play that crucial game. Sometimes you can take up a whole month playing a single season, with work getting in the way, and it does get quite frustrating.

One way to get around this problem could be to take your computer to work and keep it in the toilet cubicle, quickly nipping off to the toilet every 5 minutes or so. But this could get you noticed quite quickly by your boss - and for all the wrong reasons! A more viable option could be to give detailed instructions to your girlfriend or housemate so they can take care of matches while you are out at work.  Make sure they know to call you though if there are any highly pivotal decisions to be made. A lot of managers wouldn't want to put such a great responsibility on their loved ones though, and would also find it quite stressful going to work and worrying if the 'assistant manager' was making any stupid decisions.

The best option of all would be to keep buying lottery tickets and gambling and hopefully soon enough you'll win enough money to be able to quit work once and for all. Then you can focus on your real career, get that Conference League side into the Champions League and give Jose Mourinho a call asking him for a job - who knows, it's worked for some in the past!
