Jose Mourinho at Manchester United - Pros and Cons of having the 'Special One'

The 'Special One' is back in the world's most exciting league once again, this time as the manager of Manchester United after two spells with Chelsea. Mourinho is undoubtedly one of the most successful managers in the last decade and will now be in the hot-seat of one of the planet's most successful and richest clubs.

United finished in a dismal 5th position last season, result that is seen as mayor failure in the eyes of their fans. Odds of them finishing outside top 4 this season are 7/4, bet that might not be so far-fetched. If you are considering betting on this offer, than definitely check new customer offers for coral, bet £5 and you can get £20.

Nevertheless, how disasters United's last season might seem, Mourinho didn't even finish last season at the helm of Chelsea after being sacked in December by the clubs chairman Roman Abramovich. The Blues finished in 10th place, that's nine positions lower then the previous season where 'Mou' led the west London club to the Premier League title. It doesn't need mentioning that it was the worst title defence in the league's history.

Obviously there are two sides to Mourinho's story, some are his clear advantages yet some come as disadvantages, so let us take a look at some of the pros and cons to his future reign at Manchester United.

Pros. Players love Jose. No matter which club Mourinho took charge of the players simply worshipped him. When he resigned as Inter's manager back in 2010 after winning the famous treble with Milan's club, the player were in tears as they parted. Mourinho loves to get tuck with his players and the celebrations and there is no doubt that players at Man Utd will quickly adapt to his methods.

Success, Mourinho literally breathes it. The 51 year-old fairly rarely goes a season without trophies and has won almost every silverware there is, while breaking records in the process. Mourinho has won the UEFA Cup (the Europa League), the Champions League, the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Coppa Italia, Copa Del Rey, the League Cup and the FA Cup. Not only that, but he also has the record for highest points won in Premier League, 95, which surpassed Wenger's 'Invincibles'.

He'll bring new big names to the club. It is no secret that this United sqaud need to improve drastically for the following season. The likes of Ibrahimovic and Mkhitaryan are already on board, with Paul Pogba also looking set to sign for Manchester United in the coming days, and don't get fulled, this is all Mourinho's work. Mourinho's bringing back the factor that Sir Alex Ferguson had, which is that top players will want to move to Old Trafford.

Cons. In pros we mentioned that players love Mourinho and his methods, well some players absolutely hate 'The Special One'. One of the is current Manchester player, Juan Mata, who already played under Mourinho. Why the loath? Well during Mourinho's second spell at Stamford Bride the Spaniard was completely shut of the Chelsea first team. Also, Chelsea's awful last season was largely down to plenty of players having disagreements with Mourinho, which lead to breaking the team's moral and mutiny in the squad, which ultimately ended by Mourinho getting the boot.

Gets a lot of negative media attention. No other manager on this planet likes to play mind games giving out controversial comments in front of the media as Mourinho. Whether it comes from stating that he is 'The Special One' or calling out a rival manager. Of course, Premier League players and managers are in the public eye 24/7 whole year around, but Mourinho's approach to matches may change Man Utd's reputation of being a classy gentleman's club to a controversial one.

Mourinho has a boring style of play. Van Gaal's style of play is very similar to that of Mourinho, appeling in front of goal but pretty solid at the back. 'The Special One' famously 'parks the bus' and grinds out results. Mourinho might not alter United's style of play but just might increase club's chances of winning trophies again. And then again is football all about trophies, or is the beautiful game?
