First of all, thanks to Igor for the invite into here.
As an avid fan of the football manager franchise, I felt a strange urge to document my progress. As I stare at the loading screen and the database finds manager targets I’ve already decided the lucky club, Leeds United. With a new owner and some financial stability (to an extent) is tone to restore a club held so close to my heart to its former glory. With a superb youth setup, and a proven track record of developing quality youngsters it shouldn’t be too hard to mount a challenge within a season or two, should it? With low expectations for the first year, mid table, I should be able to avoid the guillotine from the somewhat trigger happy Cellino. Funds are sparce to begin with, but hopefully a clear out of players, especially those earning more than their worth, will provide me with a sufficient budget.
As if the pressure of Elland road faithful and the constant threat of a maniacal chairman want enough though, I’ve set myself a further challenge of creating a squad based purely on home grown talent. Obviously I will have to include some foreign imports should I not be able to find the perfect fit in Britain, be it through ability or price tag.
To top it all I’m aiming to steer clear of using these aid sites, the usual “wonderkids” and “must buys”, I’m relying solely on my backroom staff and scouts knowledge.
Any questions feel free to ask, updates on progress to follow…
