FIFA best XI team has been announced yesterday, and just for the fun of it, we decided to see how would our team look like in Football Manager 2014.
So the FIFA Ballon D’Or 2013 has finished and all the awards have been given to players, coaches and teams that deserved it most. You may not have to agree with the winners of these prestigious awards, it is entirely your opinion.
We’re here to see how would this team look like in FM14 and is it even possible to obtain all of the best eleven players in a team you manage, no cheats off course.
The best eleven in Football Manager 2014
Manuel Neuer won the best goalkeeper award. At the age of 27 he still is not in his prime or should we say golden age for goalkeepers in FM, who generally peak at the age of plus 30. Exceptional GK nevertheless, and probably the best in FM14. Also really hard to buy from Bayern. Starting bid at £25M.
Although his natural position in FM14 is DR, will set him as a DL. Philipp Lahm, Bayern’s captain at age of 29 is in his peak. Can play as a full back or a complete wing back either left or right side. Gem of a player and one of the best in FM14 for sure. Would we pick someone else as DL based on FM, Leighton Baines?
Sergio Ramos came as a bit of surprise, at least for us. Just like in real life, his Arguing With Officials can cost you quite a bit of nerves if you have him in your team, red card specialist we dare to say. But again, a great player. Better picks, Vincent Kompany or Gerard Pique maybe?
Thiago Silva, an example of how a World Class Defender Centre should look like. Fast, strong, good concentration, marking and tackling, he should work on his jumping reach thou. You can get him from money rich Paris Saint German, but be prepared to pay some record breaking fees.
Daniel Alves, surely the best Full/Wing Back at the start of the game for right side. He has it all, speed, dribbling, crossing and even his defensive attributes aren’t bad. A true menace at the right side. If you ever wish to snatch a similar yet younger player, try Danilo from Porto.
A creative force from the deep end of the field, Xavi. Unfortunately, his age of 33 is the main problem here. Xavi at best has two more season of top football. At this age he’s not prepared to leave Barca, so you can forget about signing him. Similar players like Xavi? You tell us!
Franck ‘The Scarface’ Ribery although naturally a left winger, we’ll have to play him at an unconvincing position for him, midfielder centre. Pros; fast, creative, excellent technique, can win games on his own… Cons, or should we say con - teamwork. Obtainable from Bayern after a season.
We dare to say best central midfielder in the game, Andres Iniesta. Coupled with Xavi, they represent an unstoppable creative force from the middle of the field. Great technician, and in the prime of his game. We never managed to buy him from Barca, have you?
FIFA Ballon D’Or 2013, Cristiano Ronaldo. Flawless player. He won’t assist as much due to his low teamwork, but play him at his natural position and he becomes a goal machine, just like in real life. Should you decide to buy him, be prepared to splash out £845,000,000 - his minimal release fee.
Lionel Messi, best player in Football Manager 2014. His main weakness' are aerial challenges and his strength, everything else - out of this world. Surprisingly, he has a smaller minimal release fee than CR7, ‘only’ £211,000,000. It’s extremely hard to sign him from Barca, but possible.
Ferenc Puskas award winner, Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Perfect target man or a deep lying forward, Zlatan is at the peak of his game in FM14. Usually he leaves PSG after two seasson, so you could get him on a Bosman Ruling. If you’re looking for a younger version of Zlatan, try Andreas Cornelius from Cardiff.
