Are you struggling to score from corners in FM 2013? Well if that’s the case, here is a simple tutorial on how to set up your players to score more goals.
We all want to score more goals from corners, but only few mange to do it. Why is it so? First thing you think of is that you do not have players who are capable of scoring from corners. Well, what if we told you that this is not what’s wrong here.
Basically players are failing to set the right instructions when performing corners, and because of that comes lack of goals scored from corner set pieces. Each team can and must score from a corner chance, everything is a matter of good instructions to players during the execution of a corner set piece.
How to set up corner instructions in FM13
We’ll use an example from Juventus. As you can see from the picture above, it is of great importance that you set your corner taker to cross the ball to Near Post. This should be default no matter what side, right or left.
Next, set your best header to Attack Near Post. In our case this will be Leonardo Bonucci. Usually in every team, best headers are Central Defenders. This is not a written rule, so maybe the best header in your team might be a midfielder or an attacker. Which ever, it’s crucial that your best header Attacks Near Post.
Now, set your second best header to Challenge Keeper. As you can see, Kyriakos Papadopoulos will be doing this. Why do we need to do this? Simple, this will restrict keeper’s runs at the crossed ball and will shorten his line of sight. Basically, we will disrupt the opposing goalkeeper to attack that crossed ball, and will allow more freedom to our best header. Also, if it comes to any flicks on from the near post, our second best header will be waiting them.
Finally, set your third best header to Attack Far Post. As said before, there will be situations where our best header can’t shoot at goal so he’ll try to flick the ball to far post. And there at the far post you’ll have a player waiting to put them balls in the back of the net.
Also, if you have a player that has a good Long Shoots attribute, like Arturo Vidal, you should set him to Lurk Outside Area. Hopefully, he will manage to score them deflected balls from outside the penalty box.
Set your all other players as you see in the picture above.
See how well Bonucci did with these instructions
Season one: 14 goals, 5 assists. Not bad.
Season two: 22 goals, 3 assists. Third best striker in the team!
So set your corner instructions as we said and showed you above, and in no time your team should start scoring from corners.
