Neymar | Wonderkid Of The Week
This is gonna be an interesting one. I never fancy purchasing players that are so much exposed in the media and are presented to the football world as new Pele or Maradona. This time I wanted to go even deeper with my analysis and do more research on Neymar than on my previous reviews, just to see if he can live up to the hype.
But first things first...
BiographyAt the age of 19, Neymar won the 2011 South American Footballer of the Year award, by a record margin, after previous coming third in 2010. Neymar received nominations for the FIFA Ballon d'Or and FIFA Puskás Award in 2011, where he came 10th for the 2011 FIFA Ballon d'Or award and won the 2011 FIFA Puskás Award. His playing style has earned him critical acclaim, with fans, media and former players drawing comparisons to Brazil legend Pelé, who has declared Neymar "an excellent player".
Neymar joined Santos in 2003 and, after raising through the ranks, was promoted to their first team squad. He made his debut for Santos in 2009, in which he quickly made his breakthrough, becoming a first team regular and being voted the Best Young Player of the 2009 Campeonato Paulista. Further honours followed, with Neymar being voted best player as Santos won the 2010 Campeonato Paulista, and also being top scorer in the 2010 Copa do Brasil with 11 goals. Neymar finished the 2010 season with 42 goals in 60 games as his club achieved the Double. Neymar was again voted best player of the year in 2011 as his side retained the league title, Santos also winning the 2011 Copa Libertadores in which Neymar scored 6 goals in 13 appearances, making him the best player of the competition. He also played a key role in securing a Continental Double for his team, Santos. He received the Bronze Ball in the 2011 FIFA Club World Cup, with Santos making it to the final, where they were defeated by Spanish club FC Barcelona, 4–0.
On 10 August 2010, at the age of 18, he made his debut for Seleção wearing the number 11 jersey, in a friendly match against the United States; he scored from a header in the 28th minute, contributing to Brazil's 2–0 win.
In 2012, SportsPro magazine rated Neymar as the most marketable athlete in the world, ahead of Lionel Messi (3rd).
Player Overview and Transfer TipsI had my doubts regarding Neymar and really wondered why is there such hype about this guy?! I watched few games, both with Santos and Brazil national team, and after hearing all that talk about him I raised my expectations and got very disappointed, to say the least. Especially, when Santos played against Barcelona in the World Club Cup, when Neymar said the following before the game; ''I'm better than Messi!''. He just seemed to me as a kid how can talk the talk but can't walk the walk, I needed actions, not words about how great and awesome he is. But this is just my point of view, now let's see how the guys from SI see him...
In FM 2012 Neymar is one of the leading stars in Brasil. If it weren't for his young age, he would be a World Class Player, not a Wonderkid. SI rarely misses players Current and Potential Ability so I will go on and trust them on their judgment. A true class player at a very young age.
As for the transfer goes, I can't really say what do you need to do get him, as I was never really trying to purchase him in any of the teams I managed. I guess you'll need to manage a high profile club to get this guy even interested, Barca or Real I'd reckon. Also, there is a Minimum Fee Release Clause in his contract, that states that you can buy him for a price of €240M! Seems rather high, don't you think? Well, I for sure would never give such enormous amount of money for one player, regardless if he is touted as the new Pele. But, some of my twitter followers stated that he could be bought for €50M at the start of the game. I can't vouch for this, so if you have any kind of experience in transferring him, please leave it in the comment section below the post.
Neymar (Overview_Attributes at the start of the game)
And here is what I was talking about, Neymar's attributes 5 years into the game...
Preferred Moves or move in his case is Moves Into Channels. It's a good move for a striker to have, especially if played as Poacher.
Neymar scout report from my current scout Lars Ricken from Borussia Dortmund. Personality - Fairly Ambitious, well that's nice, everyone likes to have an ambitious player in his team to achieve the highest goals. Position - Striker (Trequartista) - similar style of play as Poacher, and also Ricken says that Neymar would equally adapt at playing as Left Winger. Transfer Information - as he has no intention of joining my team, I really can't say how much this player would cost you, but as I said previously that some of my twitter mates stated that they brought him to their clubs for a €50M. Can't say really if that is possible, and with which club, this one you'll have to figure out on your own. Strengths - Speed, Neymar possesses great pace, pacy striker is always good to have. Weaknesses - Aerial Ability, this could turn out to be a great weakness if you like playing with crosses. Potential Ability - Rickens says that Neymar is playing close at his full potential, but the photo of his attributes after five years show us the different picture, cause his attributes go up, mainly the mental attributes. And last, recommendation, a no brainier, Rickens says that he should be regarded as a definite purchase. But his unwillingness to transfer and high price can put almost everyone off.
So this is my review of Neymar. If you liked it - share it, if you didn't - you're a wanker. Either way, be sure to follow these little wonderkid reviews each week, and be sure to leave your comment down below. Staring this article will also make my grandma very happy :P :D Till next week guys.
