Portugal national football team had some minor success in mayor tournaments throughout the years. Their first appearance was in 1966 at FIFA World Cup, they managed to reach semi-finals, but lost to England 2-1. They also managed to qualify for the final stage in three more occasions in 1986, 2002 and 2010. Regarding UEFA Euro Cup successes, let's just mention that they managed to reach finals in 2004, when they lost to Greece.
Portugal's game at this years EURO has been improving from their first match against Germany. To be fair they were seeded in the ''group of death'' with Germany, Holland and Denmark. But they still managed to qualify to quarter-finals, with a bit of luck and with help of their main star, Cristiano Ronaldo. They play nice controlling football and to be honest it was a joy to watch their last three games on the tournament.

| Star Player: Cristiano Ronaldo Surely no doubt about who is Portugal's star player. But it would be modest to say ''just Portugal's''. Ronaldo is alongside Messi surely the best player on the planet. Praised by many, disliked by some, feared by opponents, Ronaldo is undoubtedly world's football gem. World Class player, almost impossible to sign him for your club in Football Manager. But if you managed to snatch him, you'll see what a class player he is (unless you'r playing with Real Madrid, then you already know). Best to play him as an inside forward, or advance play-maker, this player will do you wonders on these positions. |
